The goal of any perpetrator is simple — to stay one step ahead of the good guys, even if only for a short duration, before achieving their goal. Where a perpetrator successfully navigates all layers of security, calling in reinforcements is only a few clicks away. Faculty wear a lanyard as a convenient, always-on lifeline.
Managing various threat levels allows a string of automated tasks to self-perform: locking down all doors, sending camera feeds to emergency dispatch, and providing pre-recorded audible instructions over IP mass notification systems.
Alerting authorities as soon as possible is critical. Additional local action can be triggered from the panic button — locking every classroom door from the outside, opening bi-directional audio with exterior intercom stations, and coordinating remote IP communications.
With a few pushes of a button, teachers initiate automated local actions and macro tasks such as notifying authorities. Antennas throughout the building provide current locations of distress beacons, even outside the building, to guide responders.
